Gubana is a renowned speciality that originates in the green valleys crossed by the Natisone river, creating a landscape of singular beauty a few kilometres east of Udine.
It is the sweet symbol of Friuli, the gift to wish prosperity and wealth.
It owes its name to its characteristic snail-like shape: in fact, in the local dialect, gubat means to wrap.
The ancient recipe for Gubana handed down through the ages is faithfully reproduced by VOGRIG.
Made of sweet leavened dough, hand-wrapped on itself to assume the typical spiral shape, it contains a rich filling of chopped hazelnuts, walnuts, sultanas and pine nuts.
